Accessibility

The Department of Home Affairs is committed to providing websites that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. This page includes information about the accessibility standards of the TIS National website.

Accessibility

This website is progressing to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) Level AA, a technical standard from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.0 explains how to make web content more accessible and user friendly for all people.

The Department of Home Affairs is committed to providing websites that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. TIS National plays a key role in the Australian Government's aims to achieve fairer and more accessible government services and programs through its Access and Equity strategy.

Downloading documents on our website

This website has a limited number of documents that cannot be provided in HTML format.

To assist users to download and share web content, some documents are available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and Microsoft Office Word format. We have taken steps to ensure, where possible, that alternative formats are available.

For downloadable documents, an icon appears alongside the document link to indicate the file type and size.

If you have difficulty accessing a document on our site, please contact us and we will provide it to you in a format that meets your needs.

Accessing PDF files

PDF files contain both text and images. A PDF file always ends in .pdf.

We recognise that some clients may have difficulty accessing PDF files and we have taken steps to ensure where possible that alternative formats such as HTML or Microsoft Office Word documents are available.

Accessing Microsoft Word files

Microsoft Office Word documents have been provided as an alternative to PDF files.

These resources have been provided in an accessible way and do not contain colours or images that convey meaning.

These documents always end in .doc or .docx and can be accessed by most versions of Microsoft Office.
