The FIS supports eligible people with limited English proficiency and key non-government service providers by providing free access to TIS National interpreting services. We are in the process of updating our Terms relating to use of this service.
We are updating some of our wording to make things clearer. Main changes include:
- updated terminology for some FIS client group names
- clearer information about who can use the FIS
- clearer information about what the FIS can and can’t be used for.
The updated FIS Terms and Conditions will take effect from 1 October 2026. We encourage you to review the changes in full before this date. The updated FIS Terms and Conditions are available on the TIS National website.
Please note that these changes do not affect FIS eligibility or access for existing registered users.
We value your continued participation in the FIS, which helps reduce language barriers and improve access to important services for people with limited English proficiency across Australia.
