The Australian Government administers programs that provide support in the areas of mental health, aged care and disability. Some of these programs include the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Home Care Packages (HCP). Most of these programs already provide funded interpreter support to assist patients and clients with low English proficiency. As such, the Free Interpreting Service does not cover patients or clients who are receiving funding and/or support for the specific purposes covered under these Australian Government programs.
If you need interpreter services to support your patient or client under an Australian Government program, you may be eligible for a government-funded TIS account. For more information, please contact TIS National's Client Engagement team on 1300 655 820 or email tispromo@homeaffairs.gov.au.
To enable us to assess your application as quickly as possible, please provide as much complete and accurate information as possible. TIS National will contact you to advise you of the outcome of your application within 20 business days.
