Apply to become a TIS National translator or interpreter

If you are interested in becoming a practitioner with TIS National and meet the eligibility criteria, you need to submit the online application form.

To understand the current appointment priorities, NAATI certification requirements and eligibility, more information is available on the page Before you apply.

Before you start the application form, it is important you have the relevant documentation ready:

  • a National Police History Check/National Police Certificate dated within the past 12 months from an approved accredited body
  • be able to provide a current Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check from your state or territory of residence, where required
  • certified copies of identification documentation.

Are you already on our panel and have experience in translating?

If you are already on the interpreter panel but you are also interested in translating for TIS, please do not submit a new application using the web form.

We are working on updates to TIS Online that will allow you to apply from your existing TIS Online profile. Our system will automatically display any NAATI credentials for both translating and interpreting.

If you do not hold a translation credential, you may want to prepare professional or academic references or documents as proof of any translating experience.

For now, anyone already on our panel does not need to do anything else yet. More information will be shared soon.
