Coronavirus (COVID-19) and TIS National Services

TIS National provides language services to the community and ensures even in evolving public health circumstances, the Australian Government’s programs and services continue to be accessible.

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) is a public health issue, the Australian Government Department of Health has worked across agencies and with states and territories to implement measures that manage health risks.

The Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced on the 5 May 2023, that COVID-19 was no longer considered a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), although the pandemic declaration is still active.

For interpreter safety and that of others, our Interpreter Liaison team communicates with interpreters and encourages compliance with agency instructions, including any applicable vaccinations or health screening that may be required prior to conducting on-site interpreting.

Should you require any further information or clarification about the way TIS National manages health risks, you can contact the Client Engagement team at: tispromo@homeaffairs.gov.au
